Episode 056: Stay productive, not busy

Podcast_Ep056_website_image.png

Busy is the new fine.

How many times do you answer "BUSY!" when someone asks how you are. Not, "Wonderful. Lovely. Super excited for this life. Peaceful. Calm. Wishing I had a taco right now." No, instead, it's "Really busy."

Mel Robbins said it best when she truthfully bombed us with, "Business is the ultimate form of laziness. Staying busy is our way of avoiding the things we really need to do."

I've committed my life to being full and productive, not busy. I want to fill my minutes with efficiency, not bleed them dry until my entire family is fall-down exhausted.

This episode will take you through the differences between business and productivity and how to become productive with the time you have. No more idle busy work for you, mama.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • The big difference between being busy and being productive

  • How to use productivity to move you closer toward achieving your goals

  • The reason we wear "busy" as a badge of honor and why I'm committed to letting that go.

  • How fear plays an important part of why we busy up our days and schedules

  • Some best practices for becoming more productive and ditching your Busy Mom Title

Episode 055: How I'm embracing a new season in my life (and an announcement on what's coming up!)

Podcast Ep055 website image.png

I'm right at the edge of a brand new season in my life and for our family; a season unlike any I have had in the past. This season is one of change in the form of kids entering new schools and me having more time. Don't be fooled. More time isn't always a good thing. More time just means more time to waste if we're not intentional with it.

This episode is all about how I'm embracing this new season and how you can do the same, with whatever season life has for you now. Change can feel scary and overwhelming because of the unexpected, but we can embrace change and the adventures it brings.

And speaking of new seasons, I'm also sharing how the podcast is getting a facelift this fall and what you can expect from our new and improved weekly lineup. My mission is to serve you in every way I can, and this new format speaks directly to that mission.

Finally, I want to give shout you all out and use all the praise hand emojis here. The Mother Like a Boss Podcast has hit 200,000 downloads in it's first 7 month and YOU made that happen. You listened, you shared, you came back week after week. I'm grateful in ways I can't even express. Thank you for being a part of this journey and for trusting me each week. You the real MVPs, mamas!

Here's to 200,000 more!

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • The reason a new season of life can feel scary and overwhelming
  • Why having more time in your day isn't always a good thing
  • How you can make the most out of your time
  • What Parkinson's Law is and how it applies to mama life
  • Details on the brand new podcast facelift and what it means for you (hint: It means GREAT things and more ways to listen!)

Episode 054: How to tell if you're making excuses (so you can finally stop!)

Podcast Ep054 website image.png

Excuses, excuses. We're all full of them, and after a while it can become difficult to tell the difference between our excuses and reality. Excuses are very different than explanations. Excuses keep us victims of our own circumstances.

For years, I made excuses for why I wasn't able to get things done the way other people could in various parts of my life. My excuses kept me stuck, but comfortable. This episode is a kick in the butt for anyone that wants to break free of the excuse-making cycle and take control of their own life.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • What an excuse really is and why most of us are making them subconciously
  • The forms excuses can take, including the M word: manipulation
  • How our excuses keep us in victim mode and why I wanted to work so hard to get out of it!
  • The true difference between excuses and explanations
  • How you can live your life excuse-free and in complete control

Episode 053: M-Lab Session with Micah Paschall

Podcast Ep053 website image.png

We're doing things a little different this summer when it comes to interviews. Rather than bring on an expert in a particular field, I invited real moms with real struggles to come on the show to share with us what they are going through in motherhood and at home. Sometimes, just hearing another mom ask a question that you've always had is exactly the thing you need to motivate you toward change and improvement.

Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Micah Paschall, a Mother Like a Boss student with a beautiful heart and story. It takes a brave woman to discuss her past and present feelings about homemaking open and honestly. We had a great chat about making habits and routines stick and I help her to create more non-negotiable chores for her children.

Join me for another raw and beautiful episode in the M-Lab sessions.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • A raw interview and on-air coaching sessions with Micah Paschall, a Mother Like a Boss student.

Micah Paschall is a stay at home mom to a 8-year-old girl and five-year-old boy. Her husband is a preacher and they stay busy with church activities along with the kids’ activities. Micah is usually working on some kind of crafty project for someone or something coming up. She's lucky enough to have a husband that is SUPER helpful and usually ends up doing most of the day-to-day maintenance around the house.

Episode 052: 7 ways to make this the most organized school year yet

Podcast Ep052 website image.png

I can't believe it's already time to do a back-to-school episode, but here we are. Time, it is a flyin' always. I know that most moms start the year off with the year off with the best of intentions. "This is the school year that I get our collective ish organized and staying that way!" and then by mid-October, you're in full-on chaos mode and not sure how you got there.

Today's episode is aimed to help you start, and keep a system that will make this the most organized school year yet. Start now and thank yourself in December when you've still got it all together, running smoothly.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • What the word "organized" truly means at home.
  • How your mindset is killing your joy around organization and how you can change that now.
  • The ways my family uses simple tools like folders to stay organized and chaos-free year-round.

Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Julia who is going to rock your world with how open, honest and vulnerable she is about her life. It takes courage to speak about her struggles with bipolar disorder and she does so with strength and openness. We had a wonderful chat on how she can plan her routines around her life, rather than the other way around and how to stick to household and motherhood routines even in the face of difficult circumstances.

Join me for another raw and beautiful episode in the M-Lab sessions.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • A raw interview and on-air coaching sessions with Julia, a Homemakerish U student.

She's also a minimalist in process for about 18 months now.

Episode 050: My favorite cleaning supplies

Podcast_Ep050_website_image.png

It's the cleaning supplies episode! There are 1001 different brands, supplies and tools out there, so how do you decide what is best? I spent 11 years in the house cleaning business doing the hard work of researching which supplies and tools worked best for most homes. Now, I'm giving you my favorites.

Will all of these work for you? Maybe not. This is based on my own opinion and what I've found gives you the most bang for your buck. Your caddy doesn't need to be overflowing with cleaning bottles to be effective.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • Why I recommend the supplies that I do
  • A thorough list of what I use in my own home.
  • How a variety of natural household items can be used as cleaners throughout the home.
