Episode 027: What are priorities, really and why are they so valuable

Podcast Ep 027 website image.png

As mamas, we like to think we have our priorities in order. Obviously, our kids take top billing, but what about the other very important people in our lives, like ourselves?! Priorities can be tricky because we convince ourselves that they are set in stone when in reality, our priorities can change day to day, even minute to minute. What's more important than sticking to one set "most important thing" is realizing what is most important to you in the moment and staying the course with that.

This episode dives into the feelings and emotions behind our priorities and how we can make better choices (and set better boundaries) to be certain that every step we take is with intention and purpose.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • The true definition of the word priority and why that's important to us as moms.
  • The priority hierarchy pyramid and why most of us have it backward.
  • The one book that every mom needs to read to find the true meaning of what is important and essential.

Episode 026: How I set homemakerish goals for my home and life

Podcast Ep 021 website image.png

I'm pretty intent on living my best homemakerish life and a big part of making that happen is setting clear and intentional goals for my home and life. Goals don't need to be grandiose. They don't need to feel like unattainable dreams. Goals are nothing more than the end result you want to achieve. They are the last stop on the GPS. Where are you headed and where do you want to end up? You can't plot your course if you don't know where you want to be.

This episode is all about how I set goals for my home, my business, my family and my life and the process I take to ensure that I actually achieve those goals (rather than procrastinating watching yet another episode of Breaking Bad for the 19th time...)

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • Why I believe goal setting is the cornerstone of being truly homemakerish.
  • The one question I ask myself when deciding what goals I want to set in my life.
  • How I break down goal setting and achieving into small, snack-sized action items.

Episode 025: When grace becomes an excuse

Podcast Ep 021 website image.png

There may be nothing that moms in our world need more than a heaping spoonful of grace. We're bombarded with images of perfectionism wherever we turn and knowing when to give ourselves the grace not to give into that is a beautiful thing.

But what happens when the grace we give ourselves and others becomes a cycle of excuses? What happens when the seasons of life we've been struggling through aren't seasons anymore, but just out life? Are we truly giving ourselves grace, or are we swinging to the other side of the pendulum by making excuses to avoid our fear of failure in any area of our life?

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • A discussion about what happens when the grace we give ourselves and others becomes an excuse.

Episode 022: A homemakerish guide to spring(ish) cleaning- Part 1

Podcast Ep 021 website image.png

It's that most wonderful time of the year for your house. It's time for spring cleaning. Time to break out the extra cleaning supplies, roll up your sleeves and get to work...or not.

I have a different approach to spring cleaning. It doesn't need to be done in the spring. In fact, it should get done multiple times a year to save you the arduous task of having to spend entire weekends scrubbing and wiping for hours on end.

In this two part episode, I'm going to break down how to go about your spring(ish) cleaning, whether you're getting down to it in early April or late October, or both.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • Why spring cleaning shouldn't be a once-a-year endeavor
  • Why you should be planning before you clean one single thing in the house.
  • How to decide where you're going to start and what needs to be done.
  • The tools and supplies I recommend to make your spring cleaning session the most actionable it can be.

Episode 021: How we live with minimal paper

Podcast Ep 021 website image.png

Truth be told, I really hate paperwork. I love to organize it, but I hate having it clutter up my home and my life. My husband and I have an unspoken rule in our house that we will keep the papers to a minimal, but that can be really difficult for people who hold on to the notion that papers are more important than they actually are.

Today's episode is all about my journey to minimize the amount of paperwork we bring into and keep in our home. If our family of 4 (2 of whom own businesses) can do it, you can too, mama!

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR TODAY:

  • Why I really dislike papers of all kinds and minimize what comes into the house
  • How I utilize our command center to cut down on the amount of junk we need to file.
  • What our filing system looks like.
  • Ways we use digital filing to cut back on the papers in our house.
  • How much of our children's papers and artwork we save and why.

Today, I'm pleased to have my friend Kelsey Van Kirk on to have an open and honest discussion about what purposeful motherhood looks like and her feelings about being created for the life we live.
